THE BUFFALO THEORY




A herd of buffalo can only move as fast as the slowest buffalo.And when the herd is hunted , it is the lowest and the weakest ones at the back that are killed first.This natural selection is good for the herd as a whole, because the general speed and health of the whole group keeps improving by the regular killings of the weakest members.
In much the same way , the human brain can only operate as fast as the slowest brain cells. We know excessive intake of alcohol kills brain cells .But naturally, it attacks the slowest and weakest brain cells first. In this way, regular consumption of beer eliminates the weaker brain cells , making the brain a faster and more efficient machine and that is why we feel smarter after a few beers.

And then i was caught

all my apprehensions about the bandh came true today...when i called railway enquiry about the status of my train and got the answer in affermative that my train will leave on time ...i thought i was lucky today. with kolkata clouded under the bandh , there was hardly any movement of traffic on the roads . with nadeem's bike resting in hostel...it was left to kunal sharma's dhanno( my fav @ aim) to take me to my destination. we took the vidya sagar route for howrah and reached in no time .nobody had any clue about the train and so we waited (me and pani as nadeem had already left).
only to find out an hour later that the train was rescheduled and now will leave the next day. i still considered myself lucky as when all other trains were cancelled ..mine was only rescheduled.hoping that all goes well tommorrow.

Mother of all Bandhs

come september 29 and every government run services will come to a halt for the next 24 hrs......
i hav a train to catch and with all the government run transportation system shut ( be it taxis,buses,planes) ,i'll have to rely on nadeem to take me to station on his not so reliable oldhorse. I am still not sure whether trains will run or not...all my holiday plans now rest on the shoulders of indian railways. hoping the bandh does not disrupt the rails and i get to catch my train as scheduled and planned.
